No confirmed cases of swine flu variant in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands currently are no confirmed cases of swine flu variant. In recent days, there were few people in the Netherlands who came back from Mexico with fever and flu-like symptoms.
Investigations by the RIVM showed that these people did not have the virus. Obviously, the RIVM is monitoring the situation carefully .

People who since April 17 have returned from Mexico with higher than 38.5 degrees fever (C) and respiratory complaints, get the opinion of the RIVM to report to their doctor. The doctor may also need further study in consultation with local health authorities.

Osterhaus: Netherlands should order vaccine

AMSTERDAM - The Dutch government should have ordered vaccine against swine flu already. This virologists Ab Osterhaus of Rotterdam's Erasmus Medical Center and head of the National Influenza Center said Tuesday.

There is enough knowledge about the flu to produce a suitable vaccine against it. The production takes it four to six months including beta. 'Why should we wait? "

Osterhaus is a member of the Outbreak Management Team which meets Wednesday to discuss a possible outbreak of flu in the Netherlands to speak. The team consists of experts and advises the Minister of Health. Osterhaus would not comment on whether he will call for rapid procurement of a vaccine. As discussed during the meetings did not appear for the public.

Travel

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Dutch not to go to Mexico , if that is not really necessary. That the Ministry announced Tuesday.

DEN HAAG - In a hotel in Hong Kong, eight Dutch are in quarantine
in fear of spreading the Mexican flu. Five of them went to a hospital
in the night from Friday to Saturday with slight fever.

Two stayed there, the others are back to the hotel. It was reported by a
spokesman for the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Saturday.

In the hotel are two hundred guests, including several Europeans, and
one hundred employees. They were under the quarantine measure was after
a Mexican guest showed flu symptoms.

According to RIVM (National Institute Infectious Diseases) 3 are in hospital in Hong Kong, one of them has a higher body temperature.

The (dutch) people in the hotel come from an international trade fair in Guangzhou, where they have spoken with Mexican delegations.

This is one of the largest international exhibitions of China.
