Viral fever up in Chitwan, four detected with dengue

CHITWAN (Ratnanagar), Aug 9: Score of patients suffering from viral fever has alarmingly gone up in Chitwan.

Over 35 per cent of the patients visiting the hospitals are found to have suffered from viral fever, according to the District Health Office, Chitwan.

As many as 602 viral fever patients have been found in Bharatpur hospital, Chitwan medical college, Narayani community hospital and National city hospital based in Chitwan, informed Vector Controller of District Health Office, Chitwan, Ram KC.

CHITWAN: With the number of dengue patients rising in the district right after a viral fever epidemic, Chitwan seems to be in the throes of a public health crisis.

According to the Chitwan District Public Health Office, local hospitals have found dengue virus in 18 patients as of August 9 this year.

Currently, more than 100 fever patients visit local hospitals daily. ?Dengue is endemic in the district throughout the district, but the number of patients soars during the summer,? according to Dr Sheetal Adhikari, general physician at the Chitwan Medical College.

He says the fever has gripped some of last year?s dengue patients this year as well, adding that most patients are also found to be suffering from pneumonia.

JHAPA: With monsoon at its peak, the district has seen a spurt in the number of common cold and viral fever patients.



According to Dr Balkrishna Shah of the Mechi Zonal Hospital, health facilities across the district have been crowed with viral fever patients in recent weeks. Dr Shah informed that viral fever lasts a week. The disease spreads through respiration.

BHAKTAPUR: The number of viral fever patients has increased in most of the hospitals in Bhaktapur district coinciding with the change in weather.

Along with the upsurge in the number of viral fever patients, the number of people suffering from typhoid and jaundice has also increased, according to the District Public Health Office, Bhaktapur.

As many as 100 people suffering from fever come to the Bhaktapur Hospital daily for treatment and many of them only after advanced stage of the disease. The District Public Health Office said on an average 500 patients suffering from viral fever are said to come to the hospitals, medicals, health centres and drug stores throughout the district in a day.
