Japanese encephalitis claims Jhapa woman

JHAPA: A woman died here on Saturday after being bitten by a culex mosquito, also known as the white mosquito in Nepal. The white mosquito reportedly caused Japanese encephalitis on the woman.

The deceased is ... (52) from Duwagadhi-7 of Jhapa district, Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) Jhapa member Bishwo Thapa quoted the victim?s family as saying.

Ghimire died while undergoing treatment at the Nobel Medical College in Biratnagar.

At least five persons have died from Japanese encephalitis after being bitten by culex mosquito in the last four years in Duwagadhi VDC,

Japanese encephalitis claims life
- BHAWANI BHATTA, KANCHANPUR
Sep 11, 2015- A boy at Bankatti in Bhimdatta Municipality-14 has died of Japanese encephalitis in the district.

The deceased has been identified as six-year-old, Samrat Joshi of Saraswoti Tole. He breathed his last while being treated at Baraily in India two weeks ago. Meanwhile, another local resident Ramdatta Joshi, 55, is said to be suffering from the same disease and is undergoing treatment at in Baraily.
Dr Suvesh Raj Kayastha of Seti Zonal Hospital said the disease was confirmed based on symptoms.
