The Ministry of Health and Population said on Monday it had alerted all agencies concerned of a possible outbreak of dengue epidemic in the coming days. The ministry's move comes amid reports of a dengue outbreak in several districts.

“We have alerted all agencies concerned, including local units throughout the country about a possible risk of dengue outbreak,” said Dr Gokarna Dahal, chief of the Vector Control Section at the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division. “We have requested them to carry out various activities, including an awareness drive.”...​

Last week, the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division held a meeting with stakeholders—health workers, officials and representatives of local units in Sunsari district, to discuss the growing scourge of the dengue epidemic.

Officials discussed the risks, as well as possible causes of the spread of the virus, and reminded the agencies concerned of their responsibilities to control the spread of the deadly disease...

...At least seven people have died of dengue infection in Sunsari district in the past two months.

According to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, a 30-year-old male patient died of dengue haemorrhagic fever. The other six patients, who succumbed to the deadly disease, had underlying conditions—diabetes, hypertension, and renal failure.

Of around 4,500 confirmed cases of dengue reported so far since the start of this year, around 3,000 have been reported from Sunsari.

“Over 3,000 cases of dengue infection have been confirmed in our hospital alone,” said Dr Jagat Narayan Prasad, director at the hospital. “We have been overwhelmed with dengue patients.”...

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: Cases of dengue infection have been increasing across the country each day.

According to the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, 13,292 people have fallen ill due to the spread of dengue infection in 74 districts of Nepal.

So far, 10 people have lost their lives due to dengue infection. Dr Rudra Prasad Marasini, director of the division, said that dengue infection is increasing due to continuous rainfall and lack of attention to sanitation. He emphasized the need for vigilance as the number of cases continues to rise.​..

​KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Dengue infection is on the rise in Nepal. According to the data unveiled by the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, a total of 21,206 people have so far tested positive for dengue infection.

It may be noted that the Division had projected the dengue cases to rise from mid-August to mid-October. So far 13 infected have lost their lives to the dengue contagion.

Division Director Dr Rudra Prasad Marasini said dengue infection is increasing daily due to continuous rain.

Dengue was first detected in Nepal in 2004. In 2022, a total of 54,784 people were infected with dengue and 88 died due to the contagion.

Sunsari district has topped the list of dengue cases in the country. According to the Division, Sunsari district has reported 11,659 dengue infection cases.​..

Authorities concerned are yet to contain an outbreak of dengue, a mosquito-bite infectious disease, in Dharan of Sunsari district.

According to the health unit of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, the dengue infection rate has remained at 70 to 72 percent over the past two and half months.

“Efforts are underway to control the dengue outbreak. However, the infection rate is still high in Dharan,” said Umesh Mehata, chief of the sub-metropolis’s health unit. According to him, the sub-metropolitan city has continued a ‘search and destroy’ campaign to destroy the mosquito larvae in the city...

KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Hospitals in the Kathmandu Valley have reported a rising number of dengue patients over the past two weeks. Some individuals seeking medical attention for uncontrollable fever have been diagnosed with dengue.

According to doctors, they are treating patients with undiagnosed fever based on their symptoms. Out of 21 people admitted to the observation ward of Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj in a week, 10 have confirmed dengue, and 11 patients with dengue-like symptoms are under treatment. The condition of one patient is serious. According to the hospital, four percent of the patients have severe dengue.​..

Three people died of dengue infection in the past week in Tanahun taking the dengue death toll in the district to four this fiscal year. A total of 2,796 people have been infected with dengue in Gandaki Province between the months of July and September with more than 2,100 cases reported from Tanahun alone.

Damauli in Byas Municipality, which is also the administrative headquarter of Tanahun, has become the hotspot of dengue outbreak with a total of 1,800 people infected in the municipality until Tuesday...

Doctors say the rapid increase in transmission right before Dashain is a matter of concern, as the outbreak could put a damper on the festival, especially since most health workers will also be on Dashain vacation...

The number of patients with dengue visiting Pokhara Hospital has increased in recent days, said the hospital. Dengue claims five lives in Tanahun

The dengue outbreak has been increasing significantly in Tanahun district. With this, the number of people infected with dengue is on the rise.

Even in the midst of continuous rainfall and weather changes for the past three days, the number of dengue cases hasn't decreased. Currently, five people have lost their lives to dengue in the district.

A total of 5,310 people have been infected with dengue fever in the district.

The health office in Tanahun confirmed that there are 5,310 patients who tested positive for dengue infection in the district. Chief of Health Office Shankar Babu Adhikari reported that the number of dengue cases had been increasing in Tanahun. He mentioned that dengue control measures had not been effective so far.

In Byas Municipality, 494 dengue-infected patients have been reported. In Bhanu Municipality, there are 71 cases and in Bhimad Municipality, there are 153 cases of dengue. There are 75 cases of dengue infection in Myagdi Rural Municipality, 35 cases in Bandipur Rural Municipality and 142 cases in Rishing Rural Municipality.

Similarly, Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality has 39 cases, Ghiring Rural Municipality has 8 cases and Devghat Rural Municipality has 9 dengue cases....
