Health officials warn of dengue outbreak in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Aug 11: Despite having information about the dangers of the deadly dengue fever, many locals in Bharatpur and Ratnanagar municipalities have been found negligent about preventive measures.

This was the conclusion of a recent field study conducted in the municipalities by the public health office, Chitwan. The office teams found dengue mosquitoes and larvae thriving in every nook and corner. The team found dengue larva and pupas in the vicinity of 3,000 out of the 26,000 houses visited...

...According to DPHO, in the last one year more than 5 dozen locals have contracted dengue in Chitwan district.

"Mostly the bus park areas, motorcycle garages the roadside areas near the human settlements are infested with dengue larva and pupas due to prevalence of stagnant pools of water," said KC.

Govt gears up to contain dengue outbreak in Parsa

KATHMANDU, Sept 25: With the confirmation of a dozen dengue cases in Parsa over the past one month, Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) of the Department of Health Services (DoHS) has stated that it has launch ?search and destroy campaign? in the district.

Dengue rapidly spreading in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Oct 23: Dengue fever is taking a form of an epidemic in the district with a huge rise in the number of the patients suffering from the fever during last month, the District Public Health Office (DPHO) of Chitwan informed.

?Three people have been diagnosed with dengue fever on Wednesday alone. In the past four days, 23 cases have been reported and the number is rising,? said Ram KC, the Vector Control Inspector at DPHO.

According to the DPHO, only 27 cases of dengue fever, the disease caused by dengue virus transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, were diagnosed between mid-July to mid-September. However, the disease also known as breakbone fever has been detected in 50 persons in the last month alone...

More dengue cases reported in Jhapa

JHAPA, Oct 29: Dengue, an infectious disease caused by mosquito bite, is taking its toll in Jhapa district.

According to Jhapa District Public Health Office (DPHO), dengue infection has been detected in each household from Mechinagar municipality to the eastern check post of Kakarvitta. Dengue in Jhapa district was first detected in Mechinagar municipality a year ago.

According to DPHO, currently there are around 130 dengue infected patients across the district. However, more dengue cases have been reported in recent months...

Dengue spreading fast in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Nov 27: Number of dengue cases has shot up in Chitwan in recent months and the disease is rapidly spreading throughout the district, according to District Public Health Office (DPHO), Chitwan.

As per DPHO?s record until November 24, the number of dengue patients in Chitwan has reached 215, while only 162 cases had been recorded till the end of October...

Woman dies of suspected dengue

CHITWAN, DEC 04 -
A 43-year-old woman from Chitwan, who was suspected to have been taken ill by dengue fever, died while undergoing treatment in Kathmandu recently.

She was referred to the TU Teaching Hospital as her condition worsened while in care of Bharatpur Hospital, said Kehar Singh Godar, chief of Chitwan District Public Health Office (DPHO).

?She was suffering from high fever and her medical report suggested dengu-like symptoms. The cause of her death, however, remains to be confirmed by the National Public Health Laboratory in Kathmandu.?

700 dengue cases found across nation

CHITWAN, Dec 13: As many as 700 persons have been tested positive for dengue virus across the nation since the last five months.

According to a Chitwan-based Public Health Office, 316 cases of dengue fever were diagnosed in Chitwan of which 137 cases were found in Bharatpur Municipality alone.
