BIRATNAGAR: Police seized and buried around 16,313 chickens that are illegally imported from Indian market in the border area. The import of chicken and other birds from India has been banned in view of taking precautionary measures for bird flu effect.
According to Dr. Satya Narayan Chaudhary of the Livestock Quarantine Office, Biratnagar, the office seized 108 broilers, 200 local grown up chickens and 16,005 young chickens imported from different Indian markets during the Fiscal Year 2067/068.
