The Lincoln-Lancaster Health Department reported the avian influenza has been found in a wastewater sample.
The sample was taken from the Northeast Water Resource Recovery Facility.
WasteWaterSCAN has been testing samples nationwide since May 2024, including from two sites in Lincoln.
This is the first time the bird flu was detected in Lincoln samples.
There have been no cases of avian influenza in humans in the county, but it was found in a backyard flock of different kinds of birds in December 2024...
