Cluster of dead birds leaves motorists, bystanders puzzled

A cluster of more than 100 dead birds scattered across N.C. 24 left passing motorists and bystanders puzzled Wednesday afternoon.

The report was made at 2:30pm, and there is a photo taken at the scence at the article link. The Carteret County Sheriff?s Office said they arrived at the scene just before 3pm, but the birds' bodies were removed so they closed their investigation.

Either the police got lost, or something very strange happened here. It sounds like there were multiple eyewitnesses that saw the dead birds.

Too bad the dead birds were not examined, since there is a 12.8 billion dollar poultry business in NC.
