ASHEVILLE ? An inmate at the Buncombe County jail is being treated for tuberculosis, the Sheriff?s Office said Monday.

The inmate has been isolated for treatment, which will continue until he is no longer contagious, Sheriff?s Office spokeswoman Natalie Bailey said.

Jail staff and inmates who may have come in contact with the inmate also are being tested. Letters will be sent to any inmates that were released but may have been in close contact with him during their stay...

ASHEVILLE ? County health officials say there is no serious threat to the public from a confirmed case of tuberculosis in an inmate at the Buncombe County Detention Facility, but they still are scrambling to test other inmates and jail staff who may have been exposed to the potentially deadly disease.

Health workers are checking anyone who may have come in contact with the male inmate, testing 64 inmates and more than 30 jail staff members, Buncombe Sheriff?s Office spokesperson Natalie Bailey said...
