A couple in Onslow County reportedly came in contact with the virus, also known as H1N1 virus, while traveling in San Antonio.
?Let me reassure you that North Carolina is as prepared, and some of us believe more prepared, than any state in the country,? Gov. Beverly Perdue said.
North Carolina is the 31st state in the country to report a case of swine flu.
?While I am concerned about the first confirmed case of the 2009 H1N1 flu in North Carolina, I am confident in the ability of our public health professionals to handle the situation. They are taking responsible and appropriate action at the state and national level to limit the spread of the outbreak and treat those who are sick," said U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-North Carolina).
