State flu-related death toll climbs to 219

The number of flu deaths in North Carolina has reached the highest level ? at 219 ? since state health officials began providing victim totals in 2008.

There were no deaths reported for the week that ended May 20. However, nine deaths were added for previous weeks.

The previous high was 218 deaths in the 2014-15 season, with 180 of the victims being 65 and older...
