The Namibian Government just confirmed the first official case of rabies in Cape Fur Seals in Namibia. This follows an incident on Thursday evening when a suspected case was acting aggressively to bystanders at the Walvis Bay Lagoon.
Please be cautious:
- Avoid contact with Cape Fur Seals and other wild animals.
- Ensure pets are vaccinated against rabies and kept away from wild animals.
- If you have been bitten by a seal in the past year, please seek medical help at your clinic or doctor. Rabies in land-based animals is common and vaccines are available.
Your safety and the well-being of our marine wildlife are our top priorities. Stay informed and help prevent the spread of rabies.
