Namibia battling malaria outbreak

Health authorities in Namibia?s Ohangwena region were left scratching their heads following a malaria outbreak in the norther area, just weeks after the country was awarded by the African Leaders Malaria Alliance (ALMA) for having eliminated the disease.Namibia was jointly accorded the 2016 ALMA Award for Excellence together with Botswana, Cape Verde, Eritrea, Rwanda, S?o Tom? and Pr?ncipe, South Africa and Swaziland for achieving the Millennium Development Goals target for malaria.
But about 430 cases of malaria were recorded during the past month, which has raised concerns of a possible malaria outbreak in the region.
Regional health director John Hango could not explain the highest number of cases malaria, especially after they conducting a malaria spraying campaign that was concluded in November last year.
He said most cases have been reported at health centres along the border with Angola...
