As part of a mass immunization exercise free (seasonal) flu shots are going to be given to Muskingum County residents next Friday October 10th, in 2 locations.
Rambo Health Center along with the Health Department and other community partners are teaming up at the Muskingum County Fair grounds and Ohio University Zanesville to offer the vaccine at the 2 locations to test their readiness in case of an outbreak. "We've had such success at the fairgrounds the past 2 years that we thought how can we challenge ourselves again? And the state of Ohio has also been, we really need to know how you can handle mass immunizations at various sites. And so we thought that if we brought a second site into the mix that it would be a better test of our capabilities."
This is the third year for the exercise and organizers hope to give more than the 4,000 shots that have been given in the past. 8,000 vaccines will be available for the event this year. "Its for Muskingum County residents, its free for them. Again its from 7am to noon at the fairgrounds, you can drive through only there. And from noon to 7pm you can go to Ohio University Zanesville and its drive through or you can walk in. "
The Health Department is recommending that everyone who will attend the event to fill out paperwork before hand so people can get in and out faster.
The Z-Bus schedule for free transportation to the Muskingum County fairgrounds is as follows:
Lowe's - 9:00am
Morris Drive - 9:15am
Wal-Mart (North) - 9:20am
Muskingum County Center for Seniors - 10:15am
Wal-Mart (South) - 10:45
