Malaria claims one more life

MUMBAI: Another death due to malaria occurred on Sunday taking the toll of malaria deaths this month to four. The 19-year-old boy, who was originally from Bihar, had been staying in Byculla and working in a leather shop for two months. He had fever for quite some time and was admitted to Nair hospital on June 15, but succumbed to the disease.
The malaria audit carried out by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the first half of June showed that the disease has been under control.
The BMC said malaria positivity is currently 2% in the city, compared to 5.82% last year. Of 1,14,100 samples collected till June 17, there were 2,200 that tested positive.
