MISSOULA- The recent whooping cough outbreak is continuing to spread across Western Montana with no signs of it letting up.

The Ravalli County Health Department reports there are now 47 cases of pertussis in Ravalli County with health director Judy Griffin adding that four new cases were reported Friday morning. She said two of the cases are in the Corvallis school system while the other two cases are in younger children...

Pertussis case total increases

The Flathead City-County Health Department said Friday there now are 13 confirmed cases of whooping cough (pertussis) in the county, with more potential cases pending lab confirmation.

An additional ill elderly adult in the household of a confirmed case was diagnosed with pertussis but not tested.

Jody White, director of Community Health Services, said the number of pertussis cases includes:

√Three students at Ruder Elementary School in Columbia Falls.

√One student at Glacier Gateway Elementary School in Columbia Falls.

√Three students at Swan River School.

√ Four students at Kalispell Middle School

Three adults (including one diagnosed but not tested).

Cases at Kalispell Middle School jumped from one confirmed Thursday to four confirmed by Friday...

MISSOULA- Missoula County now has seven confirmed cases of whooping cough with the Missoula City-County Health Department reporting that cases range in age from infants to adults and includes both the vaccinated and the unvaccinated population.

Health department officials say this is the worst pertussis outbreak they've ever seen in this county, but can't say where some of the cases were reported in the community...

...Flathead City-County Health Department officials say the newly confirmed pertussis cases has upped the total to 30 with the new results showing that school age children as well as adults have tested positive for whooping cough.

The Flathead City-County Health Department announced Tuesday that local cases of pertussis (whooping cough) reached 47.

That total including 44 confirmed by lab tests and three diagnosed by association with confirmed cases.

Two new schools ? Columbia Falls Junior High and Hedges Elementary School in Kalispell ? had infected students, requiring an expanded calling of students or adults in contact with them who now need to take antibiotics...

Flathead County?s confirmed cases of pertussis (whooping cough) reached 53 on Tuesday with the results of the latest tests conducted by the laboratory at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Jody White, director of the Community Health Division of the Flathead City-County Health Department, said the new positive cases did not add any new schools to the list of those with confirmed cases of pertussis...

KALISPELL- Local health officials are warning parents to immunize their children as more pertussis cases pop up across the Flathead.

HELENA - The latest numbers from the Montana State Department of Health and Human Services show that Flathead and Ravalli counties still have the most confirmed cases of whooping cough in Montana.

Overall, there have been 252 confirmed pertussis cases in Montana since the beginning of the year and Flathead and Ravalli counties have logged 53 in each county...

GREAT FALLS- Pertussis has made its way to Cascade County with the local health department reporting that it's received confirmation of the first case of whooping cough in Cascade County since 2009.

Officials have confirmed nearly 300 cases this year across Montana which is five times more than the number reported in 2011...
