The carry trade basically means that people are essentially shorting the dollar and using cheap dollars to invest in and inflate various asset bubbles such as housing, equity and commodity markets... When the dollar rebounds these markets could take a big hit... Various things could cause it to rebound such as increased interest rates or another shock to the market which would cause a rush to safety.... People think they will be able to get out in time but these things can happen rapidly when there is a rush to the exit....
