As for garlic, been there, done that, to protect vegeatables from bugs and an area from mosquitoes, BUT
Southern friends made me add Lemon Juice, there is some efficiency on the land.

As for skin solution as mosquitoes repellant,
This is a work in progress.

Mosquito Area Repellent
  • Puree in a blender
    • Fresh garlic bulbs (1lb)
    • Chili peppers (.5lb)
    • Enough water to create a runny paste.
  • Filter the biomass with cheese cloth.
  • Dilute 4–8 ounces of the resultant liquid in 1 gallon of water.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of dish soap (for solution adherence)
  • Spray around dwelling doors, windows and other openings.
  • Spray around property perimeter.
  • Remove / drain all standing water
Masks the CO2 attractant from humans and confuses the mosquito. Known to drive entire populations of mosquitos off a property in a wave. Strong garlic smell will dissipate in an hour, but be sensed by the mosquito until it rains and is diluted.
Repeat application twice in the first 24 hours on your initial usage. Repeat application after any rain.
