More than 3500 have spent this Christmas with flu

The group most affected by the disease are under 14 years and is higher in the case of children 1 to 4 years. The increase was lower in young adults, and there are hardly any cases in people over 65 years.
The week between 19 and 25 December was the second in a row which resulted in a significant increase recorded in the previous week.
The community hardest hit by the flu continues Asturias, with 324.1 cases per 100,000 population, followed by La Rioja (186), Castilla y Le?n (177.8), Extremadura (177), Canarias (112.6) and Country Basque (100.8).
Nationally, influenza activity continues to increase gradually and according to the latest data from the National Epidemiological Surveillance Network of the Instituto de Salud Carlos III, the arrival of winter has led to a doubling of cases in one week, until at 82 , 62 infections per 100,000 population.
In the 2010-2011 season is ongoing surveillance of severe cases of influenza confirmed in hospital, to the point already reported 71 cases of confirmed flu severe hospitalized, 87.3 percent infected with H1N1 pandemic virus. In addition, there has been four deaths.
