In Wright County, the state now confirms a total of three cases of bacterial meningitis, all in the same family. Wager says the mother is in an area hospital and two of her four children were diagnosed with the disease.

One of those children, a 2-year old, died over the weekend. The other child is a kindergartner in the Mansfield school district. The state was parents of children in that kindergarten class have been notified and given prescriptions for antibiotics, as a precaution.

MANSFIELD, Mo. -- A fund is now set up to help pay funeral expenses for a toddler who died of bacterial meningitis. Brison Coffman would have turned 3 next Sunday.

Donations can be made through the Bank of Mansfield, the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, or canisters at area stores.

Meanwhile, the Mansfield school district canceled classes on Tuesday because of low attendance on Monday after a student developed bacterial meningitis. That student, and an adult who also has meningitis, are being treated. The district was already scheduled to be off for Thanksgiving on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
