A middle-aged woman with a confirmed case of H1N1 has died in Solano County's second known death caused by the swine flu virus, officials said Friday.

Citing the need to protect patient confidentiality, county officials said they would not make public the woman's name, city of residence, or specific date of death.

Solano County Health Education Manager Robin Cox said the woman, who died in late July, had an underlying health condition, but would not specify what it was.

Nine Solano residents are hospitalized with confirmed H1N1 cases, but it is unknown exactly how many are ill.
