EPIDEMIOLOGICAL COMMENTS
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 Eurasian lineage goose/Guangdong clade 2.3.4.4b was confirmed in three domestic cats (Felis catus). The cats were initially screened negative for rabies in 2022 and 2023. Samples were retrospectively tested for HPAI.

It appears there was H5N1 avian flu found in two domestic cats who had contact with a wild domestic cat who also tested positive for H5N1.
