The cases involve both children and adults who were exposed while traveling outside Montana. All individuals are currently isolated at home, with either unknown vaccination status or being unvaccinated. GCCHD is assessing potential exposures and contacting those who may have been at risk.

Flathead County Confirms First Measles Case

Flathead County Health Department confirmed the first case of measles in the county on Wednesday morning, a single case in a resident who reported recently traveling outside of the county.

The infected adult is currently isolating at home. There is no clear indication of an exact point of exposure, health department officials said, and their vaccination status is unknown at this time.

Disease investigation staff at the county health department have determined that the individual was not in any public settings while infectious and that there have been no known community exposures related to the case so far.​..

BOZEMAN — The number of measles cases in Montana is experiencing a slow increase, with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services reporting 11 known cases since April.

This uptick follows the first reported cases of measles in the state since the 1990s, which occurred in Gallatin County.

To date, Gallatin County has reported a total of nine cases, with the latest being an adult. Additionally, Flathead County in northwest Montana and Hill County on the Hi-Line have each confirmed one case of the highly infectious disease. Notably, the case in Hill County involves a child who was not vaccinated.

On May 12, the Gallatin City-County Health Department reported that 8 cases reported in April had recovered. At that time, all the cases in Gallatin County were isolated to household members.​..

Montana measles caseload up to 15 after new infections in Flathead, Gallatin and Hill counties

​Montana health officials confirmed additional cases of measles in three counties across the state during the last weeks of May, bringing the statewide count to 15.

Gallatin County first reported cases in April — the state’s first measles outbreak in 35 years — and it reported an additional case on May 23 and another May 28. Both new cases are listed as “community acquired” by the Gallatin City-County Health Department, which states that both cases likely came from the same exposure site.

All Gallatin County cases are no longer in isolation.

In Flathead County, health officials announced Friday that a second case of the communicable disease had been confirmed in a county resident who had recently traveled outside the state.

The individual was hospitalized with symptoms of the illness and has an unknown vaccination status.

Flathead City-County Health Department investigation staff determined two locations of public exposure, and recommend anyone who visited the following locations during the specified dates and times may have been exposed:

GALLATIN COUNTY, Mont. – Gallatin County health officials have identified an additional measles case, raising the total to 11 confirmed cases as of June 5, 2025. The health department's investigation revealed several public exposure sites in Bozeman.

People who visited the following locations during the specified times should monitor for symptoms and contact the health department if they are not immune:

- Ramirez Mexican Food, On Mission Thrift, and Cash 4 Clothes on June 3, 2025, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

- Town & Country on June 2, 2025, from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

- Ace Hardware on June 1, 2025, from 5:45 to 7:45 p.m.

BOZEMAN — A 12th case of measles has been confirmed in Gallatin County, according to the Gallatin City-County Health Department.

The case was community-acquired - the person had no reported contact with previous cases, no travel or visitors.

The case was confirmed on Monday, June 9. DPHHS is reporting that newly identified cases are isolating.

BOZEMAN — A child under the age of 18 is the latest confirmed case of measles in Gallatin County, according to the Gallatin City-County Health Department.

The case was confirmed on Monday, June 30, 2025, and the exposure was from a previous case. This is the 16th confirmed case of measles in the county. The Montana Department of Health and Human Services reports there have been 24 total measles cases confirmed in the state, with the last 4 recent cases all in Gallatin County.​..

MISSOULA, Mont. — Montana's measles case count has risen to 26, after an additional case was confirmed on Wednesday.

Cascade City-County Health Department confirmed Cascade County's first case of measles in a press release. The patient is an adult local resident who reports to be vaccinated, though the vaccination status has not been confirmed. The source of the exposure is unknown.

RiverStone Health confirms 2nd measles case from Billings vacation Bible school

Yellowstone County public-health officials confirmed Friday a second measles case related to a recent gathering at a Billings vacation Bible school.

The second case, a child, lived in the same household as the first identified case, according to RiverStone Health, the county's public-health agency.

The measles cases emerged following a vacation Bible school at Cornerstone Community Church from July 14-16. According to Pastor Jeff Romans, about 110 students were at the camp, along with 60 other volunteers.

The majority of the people there were vaccinated against measles, Romans told MTN News. The first child who contracted measles was not vaccinated, according to RiverStone Health. It was unclear if the second child was vaccinated.​..

HELENA — Lewis & Clark Public Health has announced the first case of measles in Lewis & Clark County in decades.

Public health officials said in a news release on Monday, August 18, 2025, that they confirmed that a minor had tested positive for measles.

MISSOULA — Missoula Public Health reports a person infected with measles visited Missoula on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025.

No positive cases of measles have been confirmed in Missoula County at this time, and MPH is aware of three public places the infected person visited.
