Monroe County reports a flu-related death

A Monroe County adult has died from flu-related illness, according to the Monroe County Department of Public Health.

The health department confirmed the death Wednesday, but the day the person died was not provided. The individual was between 18 and 49 years old. No other identifying information was provided.

From Oct. 1 through Jan. 25, the health department had reported 909 laboratory-confirmed cases of flu and no deaths.

Through Jan. 25, people ages 18 to 64 have accounted for 68 percent of the 200 hospitalizations related to flu.
