A sample is positive

The Principality's health authorities have been informed that a person cared for in the morning and taken to the Princess Grace Hospital Center was positive for COVID 19. Pending the result of the operated sample, the patient had been placed at the isolation in the unit dedicated by the establishment for this purpose. His state of health does not cause concern. In accordance with the provisions agreed between the two countries and inter-hospital agreements, the patient's transfer is underway to the Infectiology Service of the Nice University Hospital. His entourage (one person) was confined to his home with treatment in accordance with the procedures adopted by the Principality of Monaco.

An epidemiological investigation is initiated in order to know the movements operated by the patient during the last days and to identify the people with whom he would have been in contact.

The Princely Government maintains the precautionary measures announced these last two days.

Last night, the health authorities in Monaco were informed that four new patients tested positive for COVID–19.

This brings the number of people affected by the coronavirus to 31, including one person who is now cured.

Earlier this week on Tuesday, Minister of Social Affairs and Health Didier Gamerdinger specified that not all these people were residents of Monaco. Ten of them are hospitalised either in the Principality or in France. Others with mild symptoms are self-isolating at home, being followed up by doctors. He confirmed that several carers at the Princess Grace Hospital Centre have tested positive for coronavirus.

“Taking this development into account, the health situation remains manageable. We are not yet on the verge of a very rapid increase in the epidemic,” reassured Didier Gamerdinger.

Second victim of Covid-19 in Monaco. Three more deaths in the Maritime Alps, the total rises to 38
By Renzo Balbo -
April 5, 2020

Monegasque authorities last night announced a second death from Covid-19. He is a man of over 80 years of age who is not a resident of the Principality and his death dates back to the night between Friday and Saturday. The previous victim was another 84 year old who was also a non-resident. Two other cases of contagion have been detected for a total that rises to 66, eleven of whom hospitalized, two under intensive care. There are three healings: a 27-year-old British man a couple of weeks ago, and the two highest institutional positions in Monaco, Prince Albert and his Minister of State, Serge Telle, a figure that raises some suspicions about the equal treatment of the disease.

The latest report on the Maritime Alps is 38 victims, three more than the day before, with 217 hospitalized (+ 15), 77 of whom are under intensive care (+ 13). In the neighboring Var there were 30 to 32 victims, 228 hospitalizations (+ 19) and 53 in resuscitation. However, these are decidedly low numbers when compared with those of Liguria which, it is worth remembering, has over half a million inhabitants and almost 550 coronavirus-related deaths.

The latest official news about the drama in the nursing home of Mougins is provided by ARS - Regional Health Agency: no other victim is added for the moment to the very high figure of 29 already ascertained, while all employees have been subjected to and fifty of them tested 14 positive for the virus.
