Flu makes victims. Another man, influenza A (H1N1)


A 53-year-old man from Leova district died after a confirmed influenza virus A (H1N1) pdm09. Also, 78 seasonal influenza cases, including 16 confirmed by the laboratory, 8791 cases of acute upper respiratory infections (IACRS), 439 cases of severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) were recorded in the previous week, 4-10 March, . At present, in the Republic of Moldova, the flu epidemiological situation is at a low intensity level. According to data from administrative territories in the above-mentioned week, morbidity through acute upper respiratory infections constituted 247.57 cases per 100,000 population, exceeding the epidemic threshold (315.88 per 100,000 population), decreasing by 25.3% in compared to the previous week.
The share of SARI cases accounted for 4.5% of the total number of admissions, irrespective of the case, to the public public health sanitary institutions. People diagnosed with influenza received treatment according to national clinical protocols.




The Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection mentions that it controls the epidemiological situation with flu and acute respiratory infections and recommends that citizens take all precautionary measures and hygiene rules, contact the doctor immediately in case of the first symptoms, without to resort to self-healing remedies and follow the advice of doctors.
During October 1, 2018-10, 2019, there were registered:
  • 2023 cases of influenza;
  • 226223 IACRS cases;
  • 10931 SARI cases.
At the same time, there were 30 cases of death confirmed by the laboratory with influenza A (H1N1) pdm09.
