The Minister for Health, Eugenia Sader, said the official figures which manages the Government, show the existence of 280 confirmed cases of H1N1 virus throughout the country.
The information was offered in the evening through the pan-regional news network Telesur, VNA reported.
Earlier on Friday the Ministry of Health had reported 202 positive cases.
To date, 900 cases classified as suspects are in the science phase of analysis to determine the presence or absence of virus. A large number of cases under study are related to people living in Caracas.
"Until the last few hours we had over 900 people suspected of influenza A, distributed across the country and concentrated especially in Merida, found responsible for public health.
Sadr warned of the growth of positive cases in the Capital District, including Caracas, where 49 have been confirmed infected, and also in Miranda (center-north), which has infected 39 people, reported Efe.
"It's a critical mass we have in the capital, but until we get the diagnosis, I will not alert," said the head of Health after ensuring that the situation was "expected" by the "high concentration of the population." Between April 2009 and January 2010, the virus caused the deaths of 131 people across the country.
72 hours classless
Decree 089 issued by the Governor of Merida state, Marcos Diaz, before the epidemic outbreak of H1N1 virus will spread, especially in the suspension of classes.
