Health department reports multiple recent cases of mumps in Boone County

COLUMBIA — A mid-Missouri health department stated Friday morning a number of recent mumps cases have been reported.

Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services said health officials are working closely with the cases and community healthcare providers to identify those who may have come in contact with confirmed cases in Boone County.

Community Relations Specialist Lucio Bitoy IV said the department has identified less than 10 cases so far. Bitoy said the cases reported have been in Columbia and none so far have been identified on college or school campuses...

MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. - Kelsi Russell brought her daughter to the McDonald County Health Department to get a mumps shot on Friday.

"Well, there was an outbreak not too long ago and I don't want her or anybody we know or care about to get them," said Kelsi.

That outbreak is ongoing as far as the McDonald County Health Department is concerned. They've seen an increase in mumps cases in the last few months and confirmed a total of 70...
