Daniel passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, after a long battle with congestive heart failure at the University of Minnesota Medical Center Fairview, Minneapolis, Minn.

Daniel B. Guhin was born May 12, 1987, to Robert B. and Elizabeth (Dorn) Guhin in Aberdeen. Daniel attended the Roncalli Sonshine Patch and Roncalli Elementary. During these years, he spent a great deal of his time with his grandmother, Marion Guhin. Dan was fortunate enough to spend his time in her loving care rather than in day cares. He later attended junior high school and high school in Ipswich and he also attended Aberdeen Central High School in Aberdeen.

Daniel was a very kind, gentle and loving man. One of Daniel's many passions was cooking. He worked at various restaurants as a cook. At the time of his illness, he was a cook at Maverick's. One of the things Daniel looked most forward to was having a family of his own. He was fortunate enough to meet his wife, Ashley, and her son, Brennen.

Daniel and Ashley Lefforge were married on May 16, 2009, in Mansfield, S.D. Daniel and Ashley discovered in August that Ashley was expecting their first child in May 2010. Daniel absolutely loved his role as husband, stepfather and expectant father. He spent hours reading ?What to Expect When You are Expecting,? to prepare him for the upcoming birth.

Unfortunately, days after his wedding, Daniel suffered a heart attack. He was no longer strong enough to work, so he spent his days with his buddy, Brennen. It was a joy to see them interact. He also loved taking Brennen to his friend, Dalen Nelson's, garage to work on cars and visit for hours and hours. He also found great peace and enjoyment in taking Brennen fishing. He also enjoyed spending every Wednesday with his younger brother, Donavon.

His condition continued to deteriorate after contracting H1N1. We lost our Daniel the afternoon of Nov. 6, 2009. It seemed ironic to all of us that someone known for his kindness, generosity of heart and huge capacity to love would surcomb to heart failure. His amazing smile will be missed by all.

Daniel is survived by his wife, Ashley, and stepson, Brennen Lefforge, and unborn child; his father and stepmother, Robert B. and Diana Guhin; his mother and stepfather, Elizabeth and Ken Poitras; brother, Donavon Guhin; stepbrother, Andrew Poitras; and stepsister, Elizabeth Poitras. His grandparents: Marion Guhin and the late Francis Guhin, Raymond and Violet Dorn. Daniel is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Francis Guhin, in May of this year; his uncle, Todd Guhin. Also by good friends Shawn Thorne and Adam Rohr.

Pallbearers will be James Poulfrey, Mike Burgard, Dalen Nelson, Kade Eulberg, Shane Whiteside and Aaron Taylor.
