State health officials are investigating a case of measles in a Hennepin County 5-year-old who became ill in early August shortly after returning from international travel to a region where measles is common.

The child was likely infectious from July 30 through Aug. 7. Local public health staff, as well as clinic and hospital staff where the child was treated, are notifying people who may have been exposed, the state Health Department said Tuesday...

But just as they were about to declare the all clear, another unrelated case popped up last week, also in Hennepin County. Like the earlier case, this one involves an unvaccinated child who had traveled here from Africa and brought the infection along...

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) ? Health officials are urging Minnesotans to make sure their measles vaccinations are up to date before they travel after the state confirmed a third measles case.

Last week the Minnesota Department of Health identified a case of measles in a 24-month-old child who recently returned from the Middle East, where measles are common.

The Ramsey County child was partially vaccinated for measles, mumps and rubella. Officials say the child was likely infectious between Sept. 6 and Sept. 14...
