Heartland virus case confirmed in Greene County this summer

​A person in Greene County was infected with a rare tick-borne illness called the Heartland virus this summer, according to Missouri state health officials.

The latest report from the Missouri Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS) indicates this was the only case reported in the Show-Me state so far in 2025.
