Week 40: No Activity
ILI rate (3.2%) was comparable to last week (3.0%) and this time last year (3.4%). During Week 40, the number of reported ILI cases was highest among individuals in the 0 to 4 years of age group.

Since week 35, there has been no laboratory confirmed influenza cases reported from the Mississippi Public Health Laboratory.

During week 40, no influenza-associated pediatric deaths were reported to CDC. However, one death occurred during the summer weeks of the 2010-11 season and was associated with an influenza B virus.

ILI: 3.3%
Since week 35 (week ending September 3rd), the Mississippi Public Health Laboratory has tested five samples for influenza by PCR testing. One was positive for influenza A (H3). The influenza case was identified from Tate County.

ILI: 4.6%
From week 35 (week ending September 3 ) through week 02 (week ending January 14 ), sixteen positive influenza samples were identified by MSDH. All were influenza A; six were subtyped as influenza A (H3). The influenza cases were identified from the following counties: Covington, Hinds (3), Lawrence, Tate, and Yazoo (10).
