Can one of the mods re-write this post so the debunking is the first thing that people read?

This is being discussed elsewhere and even though their member scientist has told them the same thing as what is being said here, many still continue to believe this stuff.

Guys who write like this can add just enough truth to it to make it believable to those who "want" to believe. Strangely, even when it's debunked, people still persist in trusting the source.

He did a follow-up teleconference. He says: "Yesterday's story about the African Green Monkey virus harvesting and vaccine patents still has many people scratching their heads." Well, yeah... I wonder why!

This story is a horrible one to have circulating now, with people being kind of jumpy about a swine flu vax that hasn't been well tested.

Dear Dr Niman:

Well, some people fell for this story, but seriously, why do you have to post it? I had a registered nurse write me who admits being scared and falling for the story. Why alarm them further?

Instead of playing on people's fears, we should educate them instead.

There is a problem with serum contamination, and I do NOT want the vaccine for lack of testing and of possible MDCK genetic contamination if made from that line and of the squalene contamination issue which has been scientifically documented to help induce autoimmune disorders (at least in rats).

I would urge you to not give in to sarcasm, but continue to educate.

Is that fair enough to ask?

This story was on NewsNow, which is the most viewed NEWS portal in the UK. A large number of people read the story there as well as MANY other places. It is PUBLIC and can be viewed by anyone with an internet access (including a search of Google NEWS). I received e-mails about it. These nonsense stories are usually posted by a follow-up series. Right after I posted it, I posted why it was utter nonsense. No one is using primates to grow vaccines. It is an absurd concept and the writer has NO idea what he is writing about (but many readers don't have the background to understand how absurd the report is), which is why it was posted, as indicated on my first post.
