OWATONNA — Though the flu season has been relatively quiet, outbreaks of norovirus are being reported across Minnesota.

Kris Ehresmann, director of the Infectious Disease, Epidemiology, Prevention and Control Division for the Minnesota Department of Health, said Friday that the common stomach bug is making rounds in the state. Outbreaks have been reported in a number of long-term care facilities.

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Nearly 100 students at John Adams Middle School are at home sick after a suspected outbreak of Norovirus.

Principal LaShawn Ray and the school nurse say Norovirus is fairly common this time of year, and they are proud of how the school has handled the outbreak, which has affected about 10 percent of the school's students.

Suspect norovirus outbreak at long term care facilities

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- The norovirus is suspected of causing illness across several long-term care facilities.

According to a press release from the Olmsted County Public Health Services, symptoms showing up are consistent with norovirus.
