Only two of the new deaths reported occurred in Week 11 and eleven of the deaths have been from Influenza A that was not subtyped. I wonder whether they were unable to subtype them or just decided not to.

Re: Minnesota 2010-2011 Season: Weeks 40-11 (12 New Death, Total 25)

Instead of unsubtyped, the report indicates "undetermined". There may be a distinction.

Of note, hospitalizations continue to increase and deaths are report well past the current report. Labs appear to be lagging weeks behind, so possibly the "undetermined" status might change.

Going back to previous FluTrackers reports for May 2009-May 2010:
"Sixty-three (63) influenza A H1N1-associated deaths, four (4) influenza-type unspecified deaths, three (3) influenza syndrome-no influenza testing done deaths, and two (2) influenza B-associated death for a total of seventy-two (72) reported since May 2009."
