</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE><!-- endnoindex -->South Korean soldiers have set up quarantine zones around two poultry farms infected by bird flu, as officials start slaughtering hundreds of thousands of birds.

It is the first time the military has been called in to help in the crisis.

Around 150,000 birds, mostly chickens, have already been culled and buried.

Government workers have started killing 600,000 more on 35 farms within a three-kilometre radius of the outbreak.

More than 400 pigs and four dogs have also been killed.

I posted this article because of the numbers....
this is 750,000 chickens in 10.27 sq. km. or 3.97 sq. miles.

That's a lot of chickens!<!-- noindex -->
