Euroasian Cranes returned to Italian wetlands after 80 years, according a news release by ANSA press agency. 48 wild birds of 'Grus Grus' species grounded on the Cona Islet, north Adriatic Sea, and their probable place of origin are north-eastern Europe.

Giunti all'isola della Cona 48 esemplari di Grus grus
(ANSA) - GORIZIA, 29 FEB - Dai primi di gennaio 48 esemplari di gru euroasiatica sono giunti all'Isola della Cona, nella riserva naturale 'Foce dell'Isonzo'. Lo conferma Silvio Perco, direttore scientifico della riserva, aggiungendo che ora gli animali stanno svernando. Le Grus grus, questo il loro nome scientifico, mancano dalle zone dell'alto Adriatico dal 1920. Questo tipo di gru non e' tuttavia nuovo alle 'soste' in Italia. Gli esemplari dovrebbero arrivare dal Nord Est d'Europa.
