The MI and IN counts are getting confusing. One of the problems is that the IN Dept. of Health doesn't provide any kind of listing of cases or deaths. Even the announcements that they make to the media aren't available online. The latest information I can find shows IN with 6 deaths, the latest being from out-of-state, presumably MI. There's been no mention of any additional deaths.

Hopefully, when the CDC does an update on Monday, there will be some clarification and we can adjust the thread titles to show an accurate count.

As of November 21, 2012, Michigan's case count associated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention multi-state meningitis investigation is 164 total cases and ten deaths [64 cases of meningitis, ten deaths*, 91 epidural abscess, one stroke and eight joint infections].

*One death associated with stroke, all others among patients counted as meningitis cases.

Washtenaw County woman, 87, is 11th Michigan meningitis death

"Another fungal meningitis-related death has been reported in Michigan, bringing the total to 11. The 87-year-old Washtenaw County woman died Sunday, according to the Michigan Department of Community Health.

Her death was reported to public health officials today..."

One of the 4 additional deaths reported this week by the CDC seems to be an 88 yr. old woman from Washtenaw Co., as this updated report lists.
