Michigan reported its largest one-day increase in new cases in more than a week Friday, Aug. 7 with 762 new confirmed cases.

The 24-hour addition was notably larger than the seven-day moving average (653) and marked the sixth time in the last 10 days that the state reported more than 700 new cases per day.

However, the Department of Health and Human Services didn’t report a single death Friday. The state has recently averaged about seven new deaths per day, according to a seven-day moving average.

Since the start of the pandemic, Michigan has tallied 86,191 known individual cases of COVID-19 and 6,247 known deaths associated with the virus.
