The Washtenaw County Health Department has found that the child with measles arrived at Trinity Health Ann Arbor’s Emergency Room on Saturday, March 21st. Health Department Spokesperson Susan Ringler-Cerniglia says the hospital was not notified of the patient’s condition before their arrival. She says to safely treat a patient infected with a highly contagious virus, like measles, healthcare workers require ample time to prepare...

OTTAWA COUNTY, Mich. — After more than three decades without any measles cases, Ottawa County now has three confirmed cases just this year.

On Wednesday, the Ottawa County Department of Public Health announced two more people contracted the virus. Both live with the person who was first confirmed to have measles last month, according to health officials.

It is the first time since 1991 that Ottawa County has had a confirmed case of measles.

Since all three cases are linked in exposure, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services will list the county as undergoing a measles outbreak, but the Ottawa County Department of Public Health said the designation does not mean there is a new or increased risk of the virus spreading to neighbors.

All three people remained home during the period where they were contagious, said health officials. No public exposure sites have been identified with these cases...

Fourth Case of Measles in Ottawa Co. Household Reported
By Gary Stevens
May 16, 2026 | 4:46 AM

HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, May 16, 2026) – It will be a spring to remember for an Ottawa County family, although it probably will be for an unpleasant reason.

On Friday, the county’s Department of Public Health announced that a fourth member of the unnamed household, at an undisclosed location, has come down with a case of measles. This comes after one person tested positive for this highly-contagious disease in late April, and two other family members were found to be stricken about 10 days later.

OCDPH officials say that the household had observed proper quarantine measures since the virus was first detected, which may have led to the other three cases, but was effective in preventing any further spread. The state has classified the matter as an outbreak for monitoring and reporting purposes, but if no further cases are identified, that designation should expire at month’s end...
