JOLLIFFE - Lindsay Joy Jolliffe. Her middle name was Joy, and it fit her perfectly. Lindsay was truly the light of the family. She taught all of us how to live. She loved life and family more than anyone else. She was the keeper of all the family news. Any time you wanted to know what was going on in the family; Lindsay was the one to call. Although she had a physical disability, it didn't stop her from enjoying life. Lindsay was a proud graduate of Rogers High School. Lindsay was always making plans for her next social activity. Her favorite things to do were attending singles nights and going to parties at her condo association. She loved her stamp classes and made Christmas cards for everyone in the family. She loved anything that glittered and sparkled. She enjoyed her strawberry daiquiris, sangrias, sitting in the sun and watching soap operas. She was a prom queen, an artist and a flirt with the guys. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her new nephew so she could be the world's best aunt. She'd been practicing for the last two years with her little second cousin Caleb. Everyone who met Lindsay fell in love with her - the room lit up whenever she arrived. The parties didn't start until she got there. She never once complained about her disabilities or even her pain. Lindsay was always trying new things, facing any fears she might have. She taught all of us to live life to the fullest. She went parasailing in the Bahamas, and tubing and jet skiing on Barlow Lake. She had been completely healthy for her short life of 28 years, only in the hospital for surgeries related to her spina bifida. She had only even had the flu once before last Friday. She came down with the flu Friday morning and was attacked by a terrible infection that caused her other organs to shut down in a short 24 hour period. Lindsay was an angel here on earth, and she is now our guardian angel in heaven. We already miss her. She will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Ken Jolliffe, Jo Ellen Jolliffe; sister Hilary Slider and brother-in-law Chad, and brother, Rory Jolliffe; numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus, 1630 Godfrey Ave. SW, with Fr. Stephen Dudek celebrant. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Very Special Arts Program, 300 Ottawa Ave NW, Suite 0200, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Family and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a prayer vigil held at 7:30 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of Lindsay's friends at The Villas' Condo Association and the Very Special Arts Program. Condolences may be sent online at: www.mkdfuneralhome.com. Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf
