In a letter to parents on Friday, Swartz Creek Community Schools Middle School Principal Kevin Klaeren said that a student from the district had been diagnosed with the condition...

Second case of meningitis reported at Swartz Creek schools

SWARTZ CREEK, MI -- School officials have confirmed a second case of meningitis in Swartz Creek schools.

A Tuesday, Sept. 22 letter from high school principal Jamie Johnston to parents and guardians states "We received news today that one of our students has been diagnosed with meningitis."

The letter does not state what form of meningitis -- bacterial or viral -- with which the students was diagnosed. The student has not been in school this week...

SWARTZ CREEK, MI -- Two additional cases of viral meningitis have been confirmed in the Swartz Creek School District, officials said Friday, Sept. 25.

The new diagnoses mark the third and fourth confirmed cases of meningitis in the district in about the last two weeks...

SWARTZ CREEK, MI -- A fifth case of meningitis has been confirmed in Swartz Creek schools, according to a Saturday, Sept. 26, letter from the district.

"We have a newly confirmed case of viral meningitis for a middle school student. We were made aware of the case today," reads the message from Rodney Hetherton, assistant superintendent. "We have also been informed this student has not been in school attendance for the last 9 days."...
