Chickenpox in Birmingham school district prompts e-mail

Three cases of chickenpox are among more than two dozen cases in Macomb and Oakland since Jan. 1.

Three cases of chickenpox have prompted an e-mail to hundreds of parents in the Birmingham Public Schools district recommending that unvaccinated students be kept home until April 14.

E-mails were sent home this morning to parents of first graders at Pierce Middle School, sixth graders at Derby Middle School and seniors at Seaholm High School. The infected students were in those grades, said Marcia Wilkinson, district spokeswoman...

IONIA COUNTY, Mich. ? The Ionia County Health Department is seeing an increase in Chickenpox over the last month.

13 cases were reported in the last month in individuals between one and 18 years of age. Of those 13 cases, nine were in kids were not vaccinated. The four cases in kids who had been vaccinated were described as mild cases...
