ISSEA monitors 30 people for bird flu
The actions derived from a new outbreak in farms in the municipalities of Rincón de Romos, Asientos and El Llano

After another outbreak of avian flu was detected, in which 800 wild birds had to be slaughtered, the workers of the farms located in Rincón de Romos, Asientos and El Llano, where the H7 virus was registered, are monitored to avoid the virus spread.

In this sense, Rubén Galaviz Tristán, head of the Institute of Health Services of the State of Aguascalientes, acknowledged that it was in three places where the virus was detected, which led to the monitoring of 30 people who work in these places.

“There is always the possibility of having a problem with humans, for that reason as soon as an alarm is raised by Senasica we also go, the risk is low, the leap that occurs from birds to humans is very scarce, but there is always that possibility,” said the health expert.

Galaviz Tristán mentioned that the problem has always been animal health, however, since it is likely that there is a contagion from a bird to a human, attention must be paid, which is why he reiterated the need to carry out tests, given that workers may be asymptomatic, so they are constantly monitored.

Regarding the places where bird flu was detected, he highlighted the University of El Retoño, located in El Llano, specifically in the bird management consumption center; Finally, regarding the quarantine that was determined in recent weeks, he said that it has already been lifted, after new cases have been ruled out, the places have been disinfected and operations are carried out normally.

Finally, he stressed that due to the timely action there has not been a major impact, and it is that in his opinion, thanks to the slaughter of the birds, an epidemic was avoided, "it is a migratory disease, they are the ones that cause the problem, fortunately it is already finished The time". :tiphat:

There is a new outbreak of bird flu on farms in the municipalities of Rincón de Romos, Asientos and El Llano.

"There are three and in all three the follow-up is being done with the worker, it is Rincón, Asientos and El Llano, all are agro-industrial management, in the Llano is the University there is a center for the consumption and management of birds and it was also detected there ”

About 700 birds have been culled after the new outbreak was detected.

"We have detected it since the day before yesterday and 700 birds have been slaughtered"

Approximately 30 people are being monitored by the health secretary for being in contact with birds and being the ones at risk of contagion.

“There is always the possibility of having a problem with humans, for that reason as soon as an alarm is triggered by Senasica we also go, the risk is low, the jump that occurs from birds to humans is very low, but there is always that possibility".

According to the authorities, Senasica is already involved in the situation. Just last March 27, Senasica had lifted the internal quarantine imposed on poultry farms, where the first outbreak of bird flu was detected on March 2.:tiphat:

Five workers are under observation for bird flu

THURSDAY MARCH 30, 2023

The Tecnológico del Llano implements a 22-day quarantine in the bird area, they maintain that the problem is controlled.

The Instituto Tecnológico del Llano rules out that there is a threat of contagion in people by avian flu , this, derived from the fact that in recent days an outbreak was registered in the poultry module of said Institution.
In this regard, José Manuel Martínez Mireles, director of Administrative Services of the ITA, pointed out that currently, five workers who were directly in contact with the birds are being monitored by the health authorities , ruling out at the moment that they present any symptoms related to this virus .

The engineer explained that when he detected that the hens became sad and grizzled , the health problem was reported to SENASICA so that tests could be done to determine if it was avian flu , so once confirmed, the 40 hens were slaughtered and they were buried in a grave following the proper protocols, he assured.
He added that, precisely to rule out that any of the workers could be affected , they are also being monitored and different tests are being applied to rule out any risk, "today ISSEA personnel were applying tests to five workers, we know that it may be possible that A human can contract this virus, but at the moment they have not presented any symptoms , "he stressed.

He reiterated that at the moment the situation is under control , so there is no reason to alarm the student community and the population in general, "from today we enter a 22-day quarantine, right now we have no birds, after this , we will put some test chicks and if there is no regrowth, we can say that we are free of any virus , "he said.

Finally, he assured that " everything is under control, and it is ruled out that there are infected personnel, it is merely a protocol that is being followed, so there is no reason to be alarmed, we are following all the indications of the authorities and I reiterate, everything is controlled” .

Nothing posted on Senasica site yet:

Not sure what the strain is. One article does not mention any strain (maybe assumes H5N1?) and another article says H7 type.

-----------------------------------

It is standard procedure to monitor everyone who had contact with infected birds to be monitored. Sometimes it is an entire village.
