January 16, 2010, 00:02Mexico, Jan. 16 (PL) freezing temperatures with strong winds and rains continue today in Mexico by the cold front 23 of the current winter season, increasing acute respiratory diseases in the population, indicate official evaluations. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast to continue over the coming days low temperatures accompanied by locally heavy rainfall to light and air currents of moderate to heavy in several areas.

For the states of Chihuahua, Durango, Zacatecas and San Luis Potosi are expected snowfall potential, so the MTF recommended that the population to take precautions and monitor the evolution of the system before another severe winter event.

The weather conditions increase the risks of respiratory diseases, including influenza A (H1N1).

Yesterday, President of the Republic, Felipe Calder?n, Mexico has confirmed that 12 million doses against influenza A (H1N1) and during the month the figure will reach 30 million planned in order to immunize the population groups with risk factors .

The president said he will continue the vaccination of health workers, pregnant women, children six to 23 months of age and people suffering chronic diseases like diabetes, obesity and chronic respiratory diseases, which increases the possibility of complications if they contract the A (H1N1).

They also have priority for mothers or guardians of children less than six months old, day care workers and childcare facilities.

The vaccine, Calderon said, "does not cause any damage, instead, can help us all to avoid a disease that, although we have under control, also must be said, has come to have many cases of death."

As stated the Health Secretary Jose Angel Cordova, "the epidemic, for the moment under control, but its evolution has taught us that any time you can return a bill, given the climatic conditions.
