Mexico expects year-end increased cases of Influenza A
The Secretary of Health of Mexico, Jose Angel Cordova Villalobos, said today that the greatest number of people infected with influenza virus A (H1N1) should occur in late December and early January next.
Cordova said that time is the most drought and cold in the country and in dry environments is when "fastest transmitting the virus"
"There will be more cases and more deaths, but the important thing is to contain them," Cordova said during a meeting of national and state leaders of the various services of the health sector.
The pandemic, which began last April in the world, Mexico has made since that month killed 610 people and infected 65,099 persons (including deceased), as reported by the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, 865,000 doses of vaccine that arrived in the country this week began to be applied the day before in the state of Guanajuato in the northern center of the country, health workers, especially medical staff and nursing and pregnant women.
