Dengue in Mexico 2023: Which States Record the Most Deaths This Season?
10:24 p.m.
August 16, 2023
Dengue cases in Mexico are increasing in August 2023
The disease is on the rise throughout the country and the most critical thing is that the number of deaths is also on the rise
Dengue cases in Mexico increased in this rainy season and are beginning to put several states on alert, since until mid-August 2023 thousands of infections and some deaths have been recorded, which seem to be increasing every day.
What at first seemed to be a transient illness caused by a mosquito bite, became a cause for concern when the Dengue Epidemiological Panorama began to report deaths and patients in a serious state of health.
How many cases of Dengue are in Mexico this 2023?
Until the middle of August 2023, a total of 9,397 cases of dengue have been registered in 25 states, with Quintana Roo, Veracruz, Yucatán, Puebla and Morelos being the most infected in Mexico so far, with the 74 percent. Only Aguascalientes, Baja California, Chihuahua, Mexico City (CDMX), Querétaro, Tlaxcala and Zacatecas do not present those infected with this disease.
The number is alarming if we compare it with the previous year. In 2022, there were only 2,886 cases to date, which represents an increase of more than 300% nationwide.
Below we show you the table of cases, updated until August 16, 2023, according to information from the Epidemiological Panorama in week 32:
