Mexican Officials Bracing for Another H1N1 Outbreak
Last Update: 7:48 pm
MEXICO - The next wave of the H1N1 virus has arrived and Mexicans are bracing for an outbreak that may be even larger than the one last spring.
Daily diagnoses reached higher levels during September, than during the H1N1 peak in April---with 483 new cases in just one day in September.
Officials have said it is unlikely there will be large-scale closings of schools and stadiums because health officials know the virus is usually mild if treated early.
Still, 3,000 schools across Mexico were closed last week as a result of the virus.
Officials say Mexico could see up to five million cases of the virus during the winter months and deaths could reach 2,000.
