Activate Merida epidemiological fence respiratory disease outbreak

The Merida state health authorities activated the epidemiological fence protocol, after the report of 24 cases of people with possible influenza-like respiratory disease, reported Denis Gomez, Director of the Health Corporation (Corposalud) in that state.

Gomez reported that on Friday, May 3, received information on a group of 17 patients hospitalized for a respiratory illness, influenza, a private clinic in the capital Merida.

"These patients were sampled to confirm whether it was a respiratory illness or influenza type H1N1 was taking into account the similarity of symptoms, took the requisite steps," he said.

He explained that in this particular case is an outbreak among employees of a bank known.

He said Monday that State Authority health authorities are aware of 24 cases of people with respiratory disease, of which 20 correspond to the municipality of Libertador and 4 to municipality Campo Elias.
