Some 30 people in the region have been affected by the outbreak so far
An outbreak of measles is affecting the Campo de Gibraltar area in C?diz, according to sources at the Andalucian Health Service SAS.
Some 30 people have been affected in Algeciras, La Linea and Los Barrios and all those affected are aged between 26 and 40. This is leading doctors to think the outbreak is spreading because of a lack of vaccination in a generation when the procedure was not compulsory.
Doctors say that those born between 1978 and 1982 are those most affected by measles because of a lack of vaccination at 15 months old. All health workers in the region are now being vaccinated and the SAS has issued a message of calm to the local population.
